Cozy Corners

Ideal Spot to Relax

The dream of sitting in a quaint coffee shop on a rainy day with the smell of newly, fresh latte’s, and sweet treats all around, is always the perfect spot to while away the hours. So, why not duplicate the same “feeling” in your own home?

More and more people are attempting to do just that. We all get tired of the hustle and bustle of the world’s demands and need to be able to rest and have peace.

When everything else is falling apart around us, our homes are our refuge to escape to.

Getting away from it all

  • Have you ever had a great book that you couldn’t wait to read or a favorite old movie that you could watch over and over? If so, you are not alone. Everyone needs a place to rest and un-wind after a long day at the office or just to get away from it all. As interiors change from year to year, the need for cozy corners are becoming very popular. Not all homes come with a Media Room, so many people convert a bedroom or study that isn’t being used, into that restful spot to just relax.

  • If you are an avid book reader like me, bookshelves, an oversized comfy chair and a reading nook are a great idea. We all need to get away from time to time and spending moments alone re-charging our batteries are absolutely needed. Cozy corners are ideal for that.

  • Every woman can identify, especially those that are married and have children. So many responsibilities, chores and schedules to keep up with, it’s a wonder we get it all done in a single day. Having a quiet place of rest is almost necessary to gain clarity, peace and hear from God, as you shut out the rest of the world, even if it’s only for a short time, (30 minutes) it is for you and you alone.

Book Nooks are the best

  • I would suggest finding a spot in your home that you can decorate and make it however you like. Funny how we buy houses with big playrooms for the kids, a media room for the husband and no room for us. Whether you are single or married, you need a room too. A place with all of the things you love that bring you peace. It could be a cute nook in the kitchen if cooking is your relaxation, a private sunroom or even a bedroom nook next to a beautiful bay window.

  • I personally love having a small book nook just next to the staircase, it always gives such a cozy feel to the space. Especially if you have a curved staircase; even better to sit under and enjoy your favorite book.

Wherever you choose, decorate it with all of your favorite colors and textures that make you happy. Make it girly, chic or sophisticated. If it brings you joy, it doesn’t matter. Then get into the habit of spending time there.  That may be the hard part, learning to slow down. Resting is a requirement from God, and we need to take heed from that.

Creativity has no bounds

Most women are running around constantly, trying to help everyone else, that we forget about ourselves.

Between the kids, the two dogs, work and taking care of the house, it can be very overwhelming.

So, make it a new quest, to find that perfect spot just for you! A place where you can get away from it all and spend time in quiet solitude.

A peaceful mind is a peaceful body. You can’t put a price on that. It will be worth the time and energy you spent, and you will never want to leave.
