• Creating texture to any room with pillows of all shapes and sizes is not only fun, but can bring softness to any space. When you think of decorative pieces to add to any room, pillows are usually the number one item that most people choose. It’s easy and won’t break the bank, plus, you can store away any you don’t use from time to time.

• You can place them just about anywhere, especially in your living room on sofas, chairs and in bedrooms on beds, chaises, kids rooms, etc. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors and textures. Depending on the type of look you want to achieve, even leather pillows will create an atmosphere of elegance and refinement.

One is not Enough

• As a designer, my philosophy is that you can never have “too many” pillows. They bring such joy, warmth and can even be charming and whimsical, depending on where you put them. The question is: knowing how to place them and where to place them correctly. Making sure the colors are complimentary to every space is key.

• Getting the hues and tones just right, will be based on the other pieces surrounding them and the colors of each room they are going into. Spacing them out and placement is as equally important. Balance is a big issue when decorating, due to the symmetry of the room. If you don’t get it right, something will feel “off”, or it will appear that they don’t belong.

I tell all my clients that if you love pillows; the more the better and have fun with them. They come in so many textures and designs and can really brighten up a “dead space”. Seasonal pillows are always a favorite too, because you can change them out and completely transform your space from season to season and if feels like you have a new space all the time.
