Wall Art

  • If you have ever struggled with what type of pictures, paintings, accents, etc., to put on the walls of your home while decorating, you are not alone. Wall Art is one of the most difficult decisions to make in interior design. Why? Because it is very personal. It expresses our personality in many ways, and we become very particular about what we display. Also, it becomes a permanent fixture once anything is bolted to drywall and studs, thus making it a longer process to figure out.

  • I’ve known many people that hesitate to put anything on their walls for fear they will make a big purchase and get it wrong, so instead, they do nothing and their walls remain blank. If you like the minimalist look, that’s a great idea, but if you are like most people that enjoy some color, then you will at some time, make the decision to decorate with pictures or wall art.

  • Anything that you choose whether it be mirrors to enlarge your space or family portraits, pictures and paintings, they must be the right color of your room matching everything else and/or the correct size, due to the height and length of the wall you are attempting to put something on. Decorations are a good idea as well; a cute imitation window frame or an element that compliments the space is always a good idea.

Muriels and Wallpaper

  • Even wallpaper is considered wall art because it enhances the look of any room. It adds charm, a bit of whimsy and even warmth to all areas you want to showcase. Some people enjoy professional painted Muriels that take up an entire space expressing the homeowner’s personality.

  • Whatever it is that you choose, make sure you give it some thought first. Ask yourself, why do I like this picture or mirror and how will it elevate the look of the room? Is it complimentary or overbearing? What about the colors? Do they match the existing pieces or will they clash, causing an unpeaceful feeling. Is it too big or too small depending on the space you want to put it in.

There is much to think about when deciding to decorate your walls which is very similar to paint. This is an area that can make or break your space. Get it right and it’s fabulous. Get it wrong and oh boy, disaster!

Add a pop of color

Make it stand out and be the focal point of the room or go subtle and soft.

Any picture, painting or decoration can elevate the look of your room when placed correctly and with the right color theme.
