Esther enters the Room

Esther 2:7

“And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful…”

From Obscurity to the Spotlight

God’s favor was miraculous…

  • If you have never read the book of Esther, I would highly recommend it.  It is a beautiful story about a young girl that virtually came from obscurity, only to become one of the highest-ranking women of her time.  It is an amazing story in the Bible for all of us.  We should study it and learn from her insightful wisdom and courage.

  • To be chosen for such a great honor in those days, was quite remarkable.  It was a different era, so we shouldn’t judge the process that she went through to become Queen.  It may sound like a fairytale, but the rights and values of women were completely different then.

  • The obvious nature as to “how” she was chosen is nothing short of a miracle from God, but He knew she would be the perfect candidate for this journey she was embarking on.  We too, find ourselves as women, in situations that test our femininity, decision making and judgement.

  • She might have been a Queen, but there were strict rules and expectations that she was required to follow, and if not, she could face dire consequences from the King.  It sounds strange because he was her loving husband, but there were boundaries that she was not allowed to cross.

Character

Am I Humble enough towards others…

  • As we think about our own lives, we reflect on how we have grown over the years and if we are led by God, we learn that as a Proverbs 31 woman, we must adjust our character to become more honest, pure and humble like Esther.  Humility is one of the most powerful traits a women can possess. Silence is another.

  • Even in our silence, we are extremely strong.  Esther was a force to be reckoned with, not only as a Queen, but she had God’s full support in everything she did.  She was definitely “chosen” to carry that prominent title and yet “burdened” at the same time, having to face the consequences of the King as well as the enemies that tried to interfere with her position.  Because of this, God instilled in her all of the qualities needed to take on such a task. Her courage saved an entire nation and her own people, from being destroyed.

An Inspiration to Follow

I can change too with God’s help…

  • Esther was an example of a woman with great faith. She embodied strength, beauty, wisdom and a great love for her people and God. All of those traits came from a loving God who led her into the purpose He had for her life. We should make it a point to read her story in the Bible and pray for a real understanding of how she sacrificed everything for her Godly beliefs, in all that was good.

  • No one is perfect on this earth, except Jesus, but we do need a champion to follow and for women, she is just that. An inspiration and a great teacher. As we go throughout our daily walk with God, we should ask Him to show us how we too can have such a beautiful character as Esther did. We may not be crowned as a Royal Queen or Princess on this earth, but to God we are already that Queen in His eyes. Our goal is to match His expectations.

If you don’t know what your purpose is, then pray about it and He will show you what to do and guide you step by step. Will it be easy, probably not, you may be faced with many challenges, but living as a Proverbs 31 woman, will get you to that place of certainty and rest. We can all be that woman we dream of, as long as we stick close to God. Trust in Him and trust the process; He will never leave your side. Life gets a little bumpy at times, but He is always right there to pick us up when we fall and get off course.

“And the Lord, He it is who doth go before thee. He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee. Fear not, neither be dismayed.”
