Daughter of a King

Proverbs 31:29

“Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.”

I’m a what to the King?

Where do I start…

  • The Daughter of a King? That sounds like a pretty lofty title to most, as if we were given a position of Royalty or a great achievement we have just overcome. But the truth is, we are all daughters of God. He is our heavenly father and because of that, He wants nothing but the best for us, just like our earthly fathers do.

  • Living a life under these expectations can be overwhelming and most of us think we are not qualified or could never reach such heights during our lifetime. But with God all things are possible and He is always patient enough to help us “get it right”. Almost as if we were born with the title, but no knowledge on how to obtain the character to achieve it.

The Mirror test

Learning about yourself is the first step…

  • A good place to start is to search your heart and mind, asking God to show you your belief system, thoughts and ideas; like putting a mirror up to your face. It can be painful at times because the mirror will reveal traits and qualities that we love and a lot of traits we don’t. But this is how we learn to grow; revealing gifts and talents we didn’t know we had and letting go of the ones we don’t really like about ourselves.

  • Have you ever started a new job thinking you will never learn it all and you’re so overwhelmed you want to run out of the building on the first day? Of course, we all have. Then in about 3 to 6 months, you have it all figured out and think to yourself, “Why did I get so anxious over this?” Walking with God is the same thing.

  • You just have to jump in the water and start swimming. He won’t let you drown, even though you are resisting change (we all do that), kicking and griping about every little thing. And when you feel like you're too tired to go any farther, He will put out His hand and lovingly get you safely to the shore.

The Journey goes on

Changing our character to match Gods…

  • Proverbs 31 is a wonderful guide for every woman to use for her life. We get off track, we forget about God and get distracted all the time, but just keep reminding yourself to not give up. You may delay your journey or even re-start it over and over, but at least you keep going. Will we “excellest them all” like the scripture says and be the prize that God wants us to be? Of course we will, from a heavenly perspective, but do we feel worthy most of the time? If your honest with yourself, the answer is NO. But whether we feel worthy isn’t the question, because to God WE ALREADY ARE WORTHY.

  • God knew us before the foundation of the earth (Ephesians 1:4) and He put in us all of those qualities we are striving for. It’s part of our purpose to bring out those qualities and improve our character to match His. It won’t happen overnight and thank goodness we have a lifetime to do it. But it’s not how you start….it’s how you finish.

Finish well. Finish strong. Finish worthy with your head held high. Even when you're a puddle of tears over a situation you can’t fix or are struggling with. As Mary Kay Ash always said, “If you have but one suit in your closet, put it on every day and act like you got it all together”. That is so true. We are all a work in progress and even the most novice of Christians, still learn something new every day.

” Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners….and he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
